Why would I need a gender, sex, or sexuality coach?

Sexuality, sex and gender are believed to be crucial parts of daily life, overall happiness, and have been linked to self-esteem and substance abuse.  Liz Eno, Denver's LGBT coach, believes that sexuality, gender, and sex preferences change throughout one’s lifetime and in relation to those around you.   We live in a society that delivers negative messages to gender, sex and sexuality variant individuals, couples and families.  Liz believes a full life can be lived regardless of any struggles one may be facing in these areas.  

What if my son or daughter is displaying a different gender role?

If your son or daughter is displaying a different gender role than they have been assigned at birth, it can be a confusing and difficult time for family members, teachers, and peers.  Liz will work with your family to supply resources and educate your family on various ways to support and love your child.

I think my daughter or son may be gay.  Can you help us with this?

Liz will help your family to create the most supportive, loving, and educated environment for your child and your family.  Liz will work with your family to understand your goals and desires given any situation and will find a way for your family to maintain a positive atmosphere regarding sexuality variations.  

Is your son or daughter being bullied because of their sexuality or gender?

Many times children and adolescents are bullied when they outwardly present a different gender or sexuality then that of the societal norm.  Liz will work with your family, your child, and your school, if necessary to create the most inviting environment for your son or daughter.

My son wears pink and likes to play with dolls. What can we do?

Many children display various gender roles and play with many different types of toys.  When a male child wears pink and plays with dolls it can be concerning to parents because their son is not displaying the typical gender role assigned by society.  Liz will work with your child through play techniques and coaching to assess his/her gender identity and work with the family to create a positive and inclusive environment for your child.

Why is it important to come in as a family if it is only my child that needs help?

Liz subscribes to an experiential format where it is important to include the entire family during the coaching process.  In working with the entire family, it helps the child feel as if they are not a problem.  While Liz may work with the child individually from time to time, Liz believes it is crucial to work with the entire family to help educate and support the child.

My child was born with ambiguous genitalia.  What should we do?

Many times children are born with ambiguous genitalia.  Doctors may make the decision at birth to reconstruct the genitalia to fit societal expectations of what physically defines a little boy or girl.  Some parents elect not to have assignment surgery for their child.  Liz can work with your family to make the most informed decision and provide various resources.  Many people live fulfilled lives with ambiguous genitalia and have found a home within the intersex community.  Liz will listen to your families concerns to make an educated decision on how to raise a child with ambiguous genitalia.

I am interested in transitioning to a different gender.  How can you help me?

For many people, they feel that their assigned birth gender does not match the gender they are most comfortable with.  There are many options for individuals who would like to live as the opposite gender then that which they were assigned at birth.  Liz has personal experience in this arena as she identifies as genderqueer, feeling she encompasses both masculine and feminine qualities.  Whether it is your desire to begin living as the opposite gender or find a place in the middle, Liz can provide resources to you and work with you to live your life to the fullest.  

Many times parents, employers and friends can cause stressful situations when deciding to transition.  Liz will work to understand your personal goals and help you make an informed decision and to coach and support you through your journey.

My partner and I want to enhance our sex life.  How can you help?

Liz views sex as an integral part of any romantic relationship and believes that a healthy sex life can improve communication and overall relationship satisfaction.  Liz will discuss your goals, fantasies, desires and wishes, and work with you and your partner to find a wonderful way to be intimate.  Liz is well versed in many techniques and different sexual desires; She will work to normalize your experience so that you and your partner may have all your desires fulfilled.

I think I might be bisexual as I find other men/women attractive, can you help me?

Bisexuality is a very real and amazing thing for many people.  Being bisexual, though, can be very confusing for any individual.  Liz can work with you to discuss your fears, concerns, fantasies and desires.  Liz can offer resources and education to help you make informed decisions.

I want to tell my family I am gay but am very scared, can you help me?

First of all, yes, Liz can help.  Coming out as gay, bisexual, lesbian, queer, or transgender to your peers and family members is a very large step in your journey.  Liz can act as a support and educator as you decide whether or not to come out to your family, friends or coworkers.  Liz has a great deal of education and personal experience in this area and would love to help support you as you navigate all aspects of coming out.
